Heat Tracing Installations
Heat Tracing
Keep pipes flowing, production online, and data halls stable
A single frozen pipe can stop an entire plant. Heat tracing (trace heating) runs controlled electric heating cable along pipework, tanks and valves beneath the insulation, holding them at the temperature your process or your cooling system needs, whatever the weather is doing outside.

The cost of a cold snap
- Manufacturers: a frozen or burst line means lost production, damaged product and emergency repairs
- Data centres: if an external chilled-water or condenser line freezes, cooling to the halls fails and temperatures climb within minutes, putting the IT load at risk
- Sprinkler mains, dry risers and generator fuel lines face the same threat every Irish winter
How trace heating works
- Self-regulating heating cables automatically increase output where the pipe is coldest and reduce it where heat isn’t needed, making them efficient and safe
- Combined with correctly specified insulation, thermostatic control and monitoring
- A traced line never drops below its set temperature, and faults are flagged locally or through your BMS long before any pipe is at risk
Typical applications
- Frost protection of external and exposed pipework
- Temperature maintenance of process lines carrying fats, resins and viscous product
- Chilled-water and condenser circuits serving data halls
- Sprinkler and fire mains
- Fuel lines to standby generators
- Hot-water temperature maintenance in large buildings
